Terms of Use
Effective date: July 27, 2026
These terms govern your use of the TrailTime app. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. Your use is also subject to Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple Standard EULA”); where these terms and the Apple Standard EULA conflict, the Apple Standard EULA governs.
The app is a planning aid, not a safety guarantee
TrailTime estimates how far you can hike using map data and a hiking-speed model (Tobler’s hiking function). Estimates depend on third-party trail data (OpenStreetMap) and elevation data, which may be incomplete or inaccurate. Trail conditions, weather, daylight, closures, and your own fitness all affect real outcomes.
You are responsible for your own safety. Always carry appropriate gear, check current conditions, tell someone your plans, and turn back when needed. Do not rely on the app as your only navigation or safety tool. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the app or reliance on its estimates.

Summit is an auto-renewable subscription offered as a monthly or yearly plan.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings after purchase.
- Current prices are shown in the app before you purchase.
Free features remain available without a subscription.
Your account
Hiking, planning, recording and saving all work without an account. An account is required only to view or post in the shared feed.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Give accurate information, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Don’t impersonate anyone, and don’t pick a username designed to suggest you are TrailTime staff.
- You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. Deletion is permanent.
Content you post
You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store and display that content to the audience you selected, for as long as you keep it posted. Deleting a post ends that licence.
You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
Community rules — zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on TrailTime. By posting, you agree not to submit content that is unlawful, harassing, threatening, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit, violent, encourages self-harm, infringes anyone’s rights, is deliberately misleading, or is spam.
You also agree not to post anything that would put another person in danger — for example, describing a route as safe when you know it is not, or encouraging entry into closed or hazardous terrain.
Every post in the feed can be hidden, reported, or its author blocked, directly from the post. We review reports and aim to act on them within 24 hours, which may include removing content, and suspending or terminating the account responsible. Accounts terminated for abuse may not create a new account.
Acceptable use
Use the app for its intended purpose. Don’t attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or misuse the service or its data beyond what the law permits, and don’t use automated means to scrape, bulk-download or republish content or trail data from the app.
Suspension and termination
We may remove content or suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, and we may do so without notice where the content is harmful or unlawful. You can stop using the app, delete your account, or cancel your subscription at any time.
Trail data
Trail and map data is derived from OpenStreetMap contributors and other sources and is provided “as is,” without warranty of accuracy or completeness. It is licensed under the Open Database License; see the app’s Data & Licenses screen for full attribution.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app evolves; changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
